U1A bus outside Wessex Lane Halls

From Monday 26 October, for around 10 days, the U1 will have to divert due to a road closure on Wessex Lane. The route is unaffected between NOCs and the University.

Between University and Airport Parkway, buses will divert after the Woodcote Road bus stop on Burgess Road, NON-STOP to Airport Parkway.

Between Airport Parkway and University, buses will run NON-STOP to Swaythling McDonalds, High Road and then resume the normal route from Langhorn Road.

The U1 will miss the following stops:

  • Aster Road stop on Langhorn Road (towards Airport only)
  • High Road (towards Airport only)
  • Wessex Lane Halls (both directions)
  • Friars Way (both directions)
  • Swaythling Station (both directions)
  • Walnut Avenue (both directions)
  • Mount Park (both directions)

Students from Wessex Lane Halls wanting to get to the University should walk up to the stop on Langhorn Road and catch the U1C or the Woodmill Lane stop and catch the U6H.

Those wanting to go the airport from Wessex Lane should also walk up to High Road, get on the bus towards the University, get off at Tulip Road and catch the U1A from the opposite side of the road.

Towards Wessex Lane, the U1N will run its normal route until Burgess Road. As Wessex Lane cannot be served, buses will continue down Burgess Road until Swaythling McDonalds where it will terminate.

Towards the City Centre, the U1N will start from Swaythling McDonalds, run down High Road and turn right onto Langhorn Road to continue the normal route.

Unfortunately, these roadworks are out of our control. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
