Upcoming diversions to affect U6, U9 and Bluestar 20
3 months ago
From Friday 04 October, there will be diversions on the U6, U9 and Bluestar 20 due to the closures at Bevois Hill and Cobden Bridge.
The U6 is only affected by the Bevois Hill closure but will divert in both directions.
Both directions (from 07 till 25 October) - Towards Southampton buses will follow the normal route up until Portswood Sainsburys where they will turn left at The Mitre, right into St Denys Road and then right down Thomas Lewis Way where there will be a temporary stop near the junction at the bottom of Lodge Road. After this, buses can continue on the normal route into the city from Bevois Valley Aldi. All usual stops will be missed after Portswood Sainsburys and until Bevois Hill but all stops on the diversion will be served. Buses will follow the same route in reverse towards General Hospital.
The U9 is only affected by the Cobden Bridge Closure and will only divert towards Townhill Park.
Towards Townhill Park (from 04 till 25 October) - Buses will take their normal route up until the traffic light junction before Cobden Bridge where they will turn right onto Thomas Lewis Way, go through Bevois Valley and left into St Mary's Road. To get to Bitterne Triangle, buses will have to go over the Northam Bridge via Northam Road and Bullar Road where they can continue the normal route. All stops on the diversion will be served.
Normal route towards General Hospital.
The Bluestar 20 will have to take two different routes, one heading in and one heading out of the city and is affected by both closures.
Towards Southampton (from 07 till 25 October) - Buses will follow the normal route up until Bevois Hill where they will turn right up Lodge Road, left onto The Avenue and continue the normal route from Charlotte Place. All stops will be missed from Bevois Hill up until the RSH. There will be a temporary stop on Dorset Street, to replace the RSH stop which won't be served.
Towards Townhill Park (from 04 till 25 October) - Buses will follow the normal route to Charlotte Place but will then have to use the Northam Bridge going via Northam Road and Bullar Road to get to Bitterne Triangle where they can continue on the normal route. All usual stops after Charlotte Place up until Bitterne Triangle will be missed but all stops on the diversion will be served.
Anyone wanting to get to Townhill Park from Portswood will need to travel into the city and then catch the Bluestar 20 from there.
