Single and day bus tickets
Unilink offer a wide range of travel options to make your bus journey in and around Southampton as convenient as possible. We charge simple, flat-rate bus fares, no matter how far you travel with us.
If you need to use the bus more than once in the day, a Southampton zone dayrider will be the cheaper travel option:
All of our bus tickets are available to buy using cash or contactless, or on the app!
Note: Dayrider bus tickets and period passes are not valid on the U1N or U7.
Southampton Plus and Network zones
All Unilink routes operate within the Southampton Zone, so if you only need to travel within this zone, the above tickets are all you need.
However, if you plan to use Unilink services and then swap for Bluestar or other services and cross into the Southampton Plus or Network zones, it may be cheaper to buy a ticket that also covers you for unlimited journeys in multiple zones, rather than purchasing separate tickets.
The Southampton Plus zone is - All of the Southampton zone, plus Eastleigh, Fair Oak, Chandler's Ford, Totton, Botley and Hedge End.
The Bluestar & Unilink Network zone is anywhere a Bluestar or Unilink bus operates, which is the Southampton and Southampton Plus zone, plus Otterbourne and Winchester, Lymington, Hythe, Fawley and the Waterside.
If you also need to use our sister companies Salisbury Reds, morebus or Damory, you will need the Network Explorer ticket.
Note: Dayrider bus tickets and period passes are not valid on the U1N.
If you travel on our buses regularly, we also have 7, 30 and 90 day bus pass options available, as well as academic term and annual passes. Details of these travel options can be found on our period tickets page.
All of our buses accept contactless payments. As long as your card, phone or watch supports contactless payments, you can use it on our buses. Our ticket machines do not support Chip & PIN payments and random spot checking (where your bank will make you perform a Chip & PIN payment every certain number of transactions) will not occur as bus travel is considered an essential service. The usual limit of £30 applies to contactless transactions, however, you can make multiple transactions using the same card.
Using contactless on-board is safe, secure and easy and carries the same level of protection as using Chip & PIN.
