Bus travel services since 2001

Unilink bus travel was created in 2001 to transport Southampton University staff and students between teaching sites and halls of residence, whilst also providing a bus service that is open for everyone to use. 

Since the Unilink bus service launch, the network has grown significantly. Our bus travel services have become some of the most popular in Southampton. Unilink bus services has continued to grow year-on-year since 2001.

We believe in investing in new buses regularly, to keep up with the latest technology available.  In August 2018 we introduced 32 brand new British built ADL Enviro 400MMC buses, all with Euro 6 engines helping Southampton meet its air quality targets.

Bus accessibility

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service, bus punctuality and ease of use. All unilink bus travel services operate dual door vehicles. It's not just our buses that are easy to use and accessible for all, our website features SpeakMe technology which helps the visually impaired and can translate into many different languages.

All buses are low floor and easy access with spaces available for wheelchair users. Our friendly bus drivers are always happy to assist.  In the absence of national guidance, we can only carry mobility scooters below a certain size on our easy-access buses.

At Unilink, we pride ourselves on our excellent customer service. We receive feedback on a regular basis from independent mystery bus travellers who score our services. Our Unilink bus drivers and bus services frequently score over 90%.

A number of bus ticket options are available to make your bus travel easy and affordable. We offer standard single bus tickets, dayrider bus tickets as well as period and academic passes. We accept contactless payments which is great for singles or dayriders.  If you want a longer bus pass we recommend you use our mobile app or our smartcard theKey.
