Route diversions for ABP Southampton Marathon

The ABP Southampton Marathon takes over Southampton with a marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k races on Sunday 07 April. Catch the bus to the start line or come and show your support for our local running enthusiasts for just a £2 single fare!

Multiple roads and bridges will be closed throughout the city so some buses will be diverted over the race weekend. Please see below for how affected buses will be running and revised timetables:

U1 City Centre:

From 06:00 on Saturday 06 April until 20:00 on Sunday 07 April Cenotaph bus stops will not be served.

Between 08:00 and 13:00 on Sunday 07 April – Buses will start and finish at Queensway (Stop CR) then will divert to Archers Road (missing regular stops between NOCS & Law Courts)

Between 13:00 and 16:00 on Sunday 07 April – Buses will miss regular stops at Cenotaph, London Road & Law Courts.

U1 Portswood/Highfield area between 08:00 and 15:00 on Sunday 07 April:

U1A will divert from Portswood Broadway direct to Burgess Road Library then will run direct to Airport Parkway before terminating at Wessex Lane (missing regular stops between Shaftesbury Avenue and Highfield and along Langhorn Road).

U1C will start at Wessex Lane Halls then divert via Airport Parkway Station then direct to Portswood Broadway (missing regular stops between Langhorn Road & Shaftesbury Avenue).

U2:

From 06:00 on Saturday 06 April until 08:00 on Sunday 07 April then again between 16:00 and 20:00 on Sunday 07 -  Art Gallery & Cenotaph bus stops on U2B will not be served.

Between 08:00 and 13:00 on Sunday 07 April – Buses will start from opposite Mayflower Halls and will operate a revised route via Central Station and Hill Lane to Burgess Road Library (missing regular stops between Art Gallery & Highfield Interchange).

Between 13:00 and 16:00 on Sunday 07 April – Buses will serve the regular stop at Mayflower Halls and then will divert via Civic Centre and Solent University to The Avenue.

U6 City Centre:

Between 08:00 and 13:00 on Sunday 07 April – Buses will start and finish at Queensway (Stop CR) and then will divert to RSH (missing regular stops between Westquay & Park Walk).

U6 Portswood/Highfield area between 08:00 and 15:00 on Sunday 07 April:

U6H will divert from Machine Mart via Swaythling Market Buildings, Bassett Green Road & Glen Eyre Road to Burgess Road (missing regular stops between Mayfield Road & Highfield Interchange). Swaythling passengers, please use Market Buildings as an alternative stop, Highfield passengers please use Elmsleigh Gardens on the bottom of Glen Eyre Road as an alternative stop.

U6C will miss Highfield Interchange then divert from Burgess Road McDonalds direct to Machine Mart (missing regular stops between Swaythling Post Office & Woodmill Lane)

Please note - Between 08:00 and 15:00 on Sunday 07 April –  no buses will serve Highfield Interchange.
