Unilink - new fleet launched

New term, new look as new buses are unveiled for Unilink routes ...

September 3rd saw the launch of a new fleet of mainly double deck buses being introduced to run across the Unilink network.

The smart new livery designed by Ray Stenning of Best Impressions captures the essence of the Unilink branding in everyway making a statement that delights the eye and shouts style.

A launch event was held on 3rd September at Southampton University and was attended by Andrew Wickham, Managing Director for Go South Coast, and Prof. Adam Wheeler, Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor for University of Southampton, as well as representatives from the University, the manufactuers', Unilink, Bluestar, local councillors to name just a few.

The introduction of the new vehicles mark an investment of over £4.5 million recognising commitment to the contract in place between Southampton University and Go South Coast. Not only does the new fleet look stylish they are environmentally friendly too with Euro 5 engineering giving better fuel consumption and less emmissions in return.

Alongside the investment, the timetables have been revised to give a more frequent level of service between the city centre and Highfield Campus. And that's not all... the introduction of integrated ticketing gives you more choice as you can now use your key card on unilink and Bluestar buses!Inside, each bus is fitted with free WiFi, so you can surf as you travel, has comfortable seating and extra capacity too.
