We are continuing our support for sporting events in the region, by offering free travel for those taking part in the ABP Southampton Marathon.
As we are expecting a busy time as marathon-fever grips the city - and all participants need do is show their race number or official event ID to bus drivers for free travel throughout Sunday 22 April.
“The ABP Southampton Marathon is one of the south coast’s premier sporting events and involves a great number of local people - as well as many from further afield - whether they are running, officiating or volunteering,” said Bluestar and Unilink operations manager, Andy Shaw.
“As with our previous support for participants, we’re keen to encourage as many people as possible to leave their cars at home. We know how important this event is to the city, and want to play our part in helping it run as smoothly as possible.
“We’d like to wish all those involved the very best of luck for a successful event - whether they are participating or part of the organising team.”
ABP Southampton Marathon organiser Nikki Rees added: “We’re thrilled that Bluestar and Unilink are getting behind this year’s event. As part of our bid to reduce our impact on traffic and the environment we encourage runners and spectators to use public transport as far as possible. This generous offer from Bluestar and Unilink means people can do just that and, as an added bonus, have a little extra cash in their pockets thanks to the free journey.”
